Reports: REDjet scale back operations

There are reports that the  Barbados-based REDjet has been forced to scale back its operation by cancelling flights between certain markets on some days.

REDjet, the Barbadian price buster in the airline sector is to obtain a license to include Suriname in its schedule.

Currently the contract is being scrutinized. Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Lackin explains that the national airline SLM had been requested to study possibilities for flights to Barbados.

Chairman of Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL), George Nicholas, has issued what is being considered a veiled threat to beleaguered regional airline, LIAT.

Mr. Nicholas says CAL will gradually cover the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) countries with several flights a day.

LOW-cost Caribbean airline carrier REDjet, which has launched inaugraual flights from Barbados to Guyana,  Barbados to Jamaica and Barbados to Trinidad, is expected to touch down in St.Lucia later today.

REDjet, the Caribbean’s Low Fares Airline has announced that it would be flying to St.Lucia from December 16th 2011.

In a Press Release issued today REDjet says  after receiving all licenses required to fly to St Lucia they are ready and in time for Christmas and New Year break.
