Press Release

The West Indies gained some crucial rating points in the just concluded three-match series against Sri Lanka to move closer to Pakistan in the ICC Test Championship table released today Sunday December 5th 2010.

The two teams played to three draws in the series as a combination of bad weather and a resurgent West Indies performance with both bat and ball deprived the home team of a single victory as the series ended on Sunday at the Pallekele Stadium, in the central city of Kandy.

Press Release
West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach bowled his heart out to earn the Man-of-the-Series award in the just concluded three-match rubber against Sri Lanka.

The Test series, which was heavily hit by rain, ended on Sunday when the third Test was declared a draw.

Roach collected 10 wickets at 24.5 runs each to be the highest wicket taker for the West Indies. His best figures were 5 for 100 in the second Test.

FA chief quits, says cannot trust FIFA

Roger Burden, acting chairman of the Football Association (FA), has withdrawn his application for the permanent position saying he can no longer trust FIFA members after the failure of England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

"I recognise that an important part of the role is liaison with FIFA, our global governing body.

I am not prepared to deal with people whom I cannot trust and I have withdrawn my candidacy," he said in a statement.
