The CLICO Policyholders Group say they are concerned to learn the February 2, 2009 transaction between CL Financial and German business group Proman, which resulted in the sale of 17 per cent of the shares in Clico Energy for US$47 million, instead of its fair value of US$250 million, has, to date, not yet been reversed and the money returned to CL Financial.

Deputy Chairman of the policyholders' group Peter Permell said this is particularly troubling when one considers that the Central Bank took full control of Clico and CL Financial in January 2009 under Section 44D of the Central Bank Act and the signing of the January 30, 2009 MOU respectively.

He says it was only just three days after, on February 2, 2009, that Clico Energy was sold to Proman by CLF, purportedly without the knowledge or approval of the Central Bank.

Christopher Carter.
