A murder accused, who attempted to flee during the fire that destroyed the Georgetown Prison, was recaptured in the vicinity of the maximum security prison, a police spokesman said Monday.

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has held its first ever project launch workshop in Haiti, signalling a historic start to the implementation of two CDB-funded interventions. The projects, which focus on community-based agriculture and rural development, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET), were launched on July 5, 2017 at a ceremony, which CDB and Government officials attended.

Police are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the Unnatural Deaths of two (2) men, which occurred sometime between the 1st and 2nd days of July 2017, whilst at Prerogative House, Wilkinson Road, Prerogative, St. George Barbados.

2017 marks the 10th Anniversary of the signing of the landmark CARICOM Heads of Government Port of Spain Declaration on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

This year’s Thirty-Eighth CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting (July 4-6) is expected to celebrate this momentous achievement. In 2007, the Caribbean led the world in convening the very first conference of Heads of Government on NCDs which in turn paved the way for the United Nations High-level Meeting on NCDs in 2011.

BLP Ryan Straughn - Tax is a burden

Economist and Barbados Labour Party’s Candidate for Christ Church East Central Ryan Straughn says he is concerned that as of Saturday July 1st, 2017 Barbadians have to pay more for almost every single item they consume or otherwise use on a daily basis; as he reflects on the impact of the National Social Responsibility Levy which he says will be , “A bitter and painful reality for all of us.”
