The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has held its first ever project launch workshop in Haiti, signalling a historic start to the implementation of two CDB-funded interventions. The projects, which focus on community-based agriculture and rural development, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET), were launched on July 5, 2017 at a ceremony, which CDB and Government officials attended.

Health authorities in St Lucia have placed the island on alert for the conjunctivitis virus, commonly called “Red Eye” after the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) confirmed there had been outbreaks of the virus in the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
A helicopter has apparently tried to bomb Venezuela's Supreme Court in what President Nicolas Maduro called a "terrorist attack". The government says a police officer flew the helicopter over the capital, Caracas, and dropped grenades.
