Stakeholders in the Region’s Services Sector who have gathered in Antigua and Barbuda for a development symposium have been warned that the Region’s very survival was linked to the performance of the sector and their efforts to make it succeed.

Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sandals Resorts International, Adam Stewart has been conferred with the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) for outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s tourism and the hotel industry.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 rocked several islands on Tuesday evening but there were no immediate reports of injuries or death, the Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies (UWI) reported.

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Minsters of Information and Communications Technologies have endorsed the Roadmap for the Region’s Single ICT Space. The endorsement was made at a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development held in Barbados this week.
Today September 9th, 2016 marks twenty–five (25) years from the date that the CARICOM Heads of Government, in recognition of the fragile economies and ecosystems of the States within the Caribbean region being extremely vulnerable to natural and man-made hazards, demonstrated the foresight to establish a regional CARICOM Mechanism for emergency response and disaster relief.
Thunderstorm activity associated with a strong and fast-moving tropical wave located over the east-central Caribbean Sea about 200 miles south of the Dominican Republic increased and became significantly better organized Sunday night into this morning.
The inaugural meeting of the CARICOM RBM Leadership Group will be held on Friday 29 July 2016 under the chairmanship of the CARICOM Secretariat’s Deputy Secretary-General Ambassador Dr Manorma Soeknandan.
