No All Clear Given: Observe Shutdown Protocols

Businesses across Barbados are being reminded that they should observe national shutdown protocols. This reminder is coming from Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, who took issue with some business houses opening their doors today as Barbados remains under a tropical storm warning for the passage of Tropical Storm Matthew.

Weather Statement for Barbados

The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of a strong tropical wave about 537nautical  miles / 618 statute miles ( 995km) to the east of Barbados. The overall cloud pattern continues to improve over the past few hours as the system slowly becomes better organized. However at this time most of the associated deep convection remains north of the broad center.

Ministers endorse ICT Single Space roadmap

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Minsters of Information and Communications Technologies have endorsed the Roadmap for the Region’s Single ICT Space. The endorsement was made at a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development held in Barbados this week.

Barbados could experience an increase in the number of people suffering from Alzheimer, Social Care Minister Steven Blackett has said. Figures show that there are an estimated 4,000 persons suffering from Alzheimers and Blackett is predicting that the figure could rise as a result of an ageing society.
